Martin has produced a graphic of this Saturday's (2013 October 12) Jupiter triple shadow event, mainly as reminder of what is supposed to happen. Clearly the event is very well placed from the UK, even though in increasing dawn twilight. The graphic can be found at: http://martinmobberley.co.uk/images/OCT2013_TRIPLE_SHADOW_EVENT_mpm.jpg He recalls that Horace Dall's famous picture of 1956 April 21 is the best known BAA picture of such an event, but Jean Meeus lists seven other triple shadow events between 1956 & 2013 and roughly 15 to 17 seem to occur per century....sometimes with two in the same year. There are other such events on 2014 June 3 and also on 2015 Jan 24, but clearly Saturday's event is especially favourable for UK observers. The graphic shows two discs....one for 04:40 UT and one for 05:30 UT and the GRS longitude is displayed correctly, so it will be on the disc during the event.
