The OT, seen on three images, had an unfiltered magnitude of 16.1m (limit 17.8m). A reference image without the OT on 2011 Nov 30.628UT had an unfiltered magnitude limit of 19.4m. It is identical to USNO-B1.0 1688-0014289 (02 39 29.302 +78 48 38.58 B1=19.79 R1=19.14 B2=17.47 R2=18.99 I=18.72) = USNO-A2.0 1650-00522197 (02 39 29.57 +78 48 38.2 R=17.8 B=19.4). The star has brightened on 1996 Aug 13 blue Palomar plate, faded on 1996 Aug 21 IR plate and was detected in bright outburst on 1996 Sep 4 infrared plate. Color-combined finder chart is uploaded to http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/J023929+784838-BRIR.jpg Based on colour, UV detection, amplitude of variability (~3m) and short outburst cycle implied by 1996 Palomar plates, it seems MASTER OT J023929.34+784838.3 is a cataclysmic variable, likely a dwarf nova of Z Cam (UGZ) type in outburst.
