A detailed programme will be sent by e-mail this week with timings and other relevant information. Coffee will be served at 10.30am and the meeting proceedings will start at 11.00am. SUPERNOVA 2014as in NGC 5410 Although a spectrum was obtained on April 19 for this discovery by David Grennan (See E-Circular 2997), the object has only just been designated SN 2014as by the Central Bureau. Spectral notes: J.-J. Zhang, Yunnan Astronomical Observatory (YNAO); and X.-F. Wang, Tsinghua University, report on an optical spectrogram (range 350-890 nm) of PSN J14005449+4058596 = SN 2014as that was obtained on Apr. 19.73 UT with the 2.4-m telescope (+ YFOSC) at the LiJiang Gaomeigu Station of YNAO. The spectrum is consistent with a broad-lined type-Ic supernova a few days before maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the GELATO software (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap., 488, 383) shows that 2014as matches with SN 2006aj at -5 days. The spectrum is superimposed by some narrow emission lines of H and O [III], likely due to light contamination from a nearby H II region. Congratulations to David Grennan on this confirmation of his discovery. Guy M Hurst
