AX PERSEI
U. Munari, INAF-Padova-Asiago et. al., report on 'The Astronomer's Telegram
6382 that the prototype symbiotic star AX Per is in outburst. This is the
third such event in the current series of outbursts, the previous two
peaking at V=10.41 on 2009 May 26 and at V=10.03 on 2012 Aug 28, according
to ANS

The previous active phase of AX Per lasted from 1988 to 1990 according to
the AAVSO International Database. Our most recent measurement of AX Per is
for 2014 August 4.1 and recorded the star at V=10.573, U-B=-0.32, B-V=+0.80,
V-Rc=+1.07, V-Ic=2.33.  Our monitoring traces the onset of the current
outburst to 2014 Mar 15 and provides as mean values for the preceding
year-long quiescence V=11.38, U-B=+0.34, B-V=+1.25, V-Rc=+1.26, V-Ic=+2.92.

L. Tomasella: spectrum June 8 normal type-Ia supernova about a week after
B-band maximum light.

SUPERNOVA 2014bq (CATALINA REAL-TIME TRANSIENT SURVEY)

L. Tomasella: spectrum June 8 type-Ia supernova near maximum.

SUPERNOVA 2014br IN ESO 147-G17 (S. PARKER)
2014br  May 05.74   22 59 50.69  -61 33 22.2  16.5r  8  "E   30  "N  
G. H. Marion: spectrum June 6 is a core-collapse supernova with no evidence
for hydrogen; specifically, it is a type-Ibc supernova at 3-4 weeks after
maximum.

SUPERNOVA 2014bs IN NGC 5270 (CATALINA REAL-TIME TRANSIENT SURVEY)
2014bs  May 30.25   13 42 09.72  +04 15 44.7  18.9  17.4"E    0.6"N
Dave Balam: spectrum June 5 with the 1.82-m Plaskett Telescope of the
National Research Council of Canada, shows it to be a type-Ia supernova
about one week after maximum light. The photospheric velocity estimated from
the Si II 635.5-nm feature is about
11800 km/s.

G. H. Marion: spectrum June 6 core-collapse supernova with no evidence for
hydrogen; it is a type-Ibc supernova near maximum brightness.

D. C. Leonard: spectrum June 20 type-II supernova older than a month after
maximum.
