Balanutsa et. al., Lomonosov Moscow State University reports of 'The Astronomer's Telegram 6946 that the MASTER-SAAO auto-detection system discovered an optical transient (OT) source at: RA 08h 58m 54.16s DEC -27d 40m 30.7s on 2015 Jan 17.78UT. The OT unfiltered magnitude is 13.7m (limit 18.4m). The OT is seen in 67 images and there is no minor planet at this place. They have a reference image without the OT on 2014 Dec 23.94UT with unfiltered magnitude limit 19.9m. There is a star in the USNO-A2.0 Catalogue with B=18.6, R= 17.8. There is one source in Atlas of Radio/X-ray associations (ARXA) at this place inside the error box (0.7 arcsec diameter) and one source in the Second ROSAT PSPC Catalog (2 arcsec offset). There is also one bright flare in CATALINA survey but 7 arcsec offset. Nakaoka: spectrum Jan 10 1.5-m Kanata telescope at Higashi-Hiroshima Observatory suggests type-Ia similar to SN 1989B 6 days before B-band maximum. The spectrum also shows a weak O I 777.4-nm absorption line. The line velocities of Si II 635.5-nm and the Ca II infrared feature reach 12000 and 18000 km/s, respectively.
