It was found using an unfiltered image with a 0.35-m f/6 Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and SXVF H9 CCD camera and located at: RA 17h 29m 29.18s DEC +75° 42' 39.0" (2000) Offsets from galaxy: 31" W 23" N The object was not visible on the Digitised Sky Survey POSS II Blue plate (1992 July 27) or the POSS II Red plate (1993 Aug 19) nor listed on CBAT's Minor Planet Checker. It was logged on TOCP as: PSN J17292918+7542390 with an appeal for spectroscopy. In response K. Nishimura, Ebtsu, Hokkado, Japan obtained astrometry on July 10.5253UT: RA 17 29 29.45 DEC +75 42’39.2” (2000). The unfiltered CCD approximate magnitude was 17.6 from an image with a 0.35-m reflector + ST-8XME. See: http://www.yubeotsu.web.fc2.com/6412.jpg Martin Mobberley imaged the field (180 seconds exposure) on July 11 at 07h48m36UT (mid) using a robotic 0.61-m f/6.5 CDK + PLO9000 On ATEL #7787 L. Tomasella relays classification of a spectrum at Asiago as an ‘early’ type II supernova. The observation was made with the Asiago 1.82 m Copernico Telescope (+AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm). Guy M Hurst
