Identified IRAS 06267+209, GSC 1336.1209 and 2MASS J0629408+203111. Details with finding chart and sequence in The Astronomer, vol.37, no.444, p.311+C4 (2001). Deeper sequence and finder issued on TA-EC1627. V15478 Aql 2001/217 10.8-(18? 16 May 2001 TA-EC1633 N Aql 2001 Object appeared bright on 11 May 2001, visible on an TAV J1907+117 exposure pair taken on 25 April 2001 and possibly at the Aql 74 (86) film limit on 1 April. No identifications found in the GSC, USNO, IRAS catalogues. 2MASS does not cover area. Nick James confirmed the suspect measuring a position: 19h 07m 28.41s +11d 44' 45.8" (2000) using 15 GSC stars. I.A.U. Circ. 7627 reports object as "possible nova". I.A.U. Circ. 7628 presents spectral confirmation of nova obtained by Chris Benn et al. using 2.5-m Isaac Newton Telescope and Shemmer at Wise Observatory. Uemura et al. measured position with end figures 28.42s and 45.8". Kesao Takamizawa reports positive prediscovery magnitude estimates beginning 26 February suggesting a long pre-maximum halt before a sharp brightening. Subsequent photometry confused as a result of reddening, differing photographic emulsions, and CCD imaging with/without filters. Several magnitude sequences exist. I.A.U. Circ. 7639 announces that the nova has received the designation V1548 Aql. VSTAT01.TXT 30 May 2001
