Objects found by Mike Collins on UK Nova Patrol Photographs in 1997 Designation Q no. Mag range Date reported Announced on 1950 Position or Notes J2000 Position Con Area(s) NSV 2735 1997/001 10.7-12.1? 2 Jan 1997 J0556+301 Object appeared faint in November 1996. Identified as NSV 2735 Aur 54 found by Richter (1969) and designated S 10498. Also found to be IRAS 05536+3006 and GSC 2406.579. Range would appear to be greater than suggested by Richter. Gessner and Meinunger (1973) studied the object but considered the amplitude so small that they were unable to make a reliable assessment. Bidelman and MacConnell (1998) assign a spectral type late R or N and add the identification CGCS 1109. NSV 2617 1997/008 11.7-(12.3? 19 Jan 1997 J0545+191 Object appeared bright at end of December 1996. Identified as Tau 78 NSV 2617 found by Hoffmeister (1968) and designated S 10180. Also found to be IRAS 05424+1906 and GSC 1307.198. J0524+546 1997/011 10.3-(11.1? 6 Feb 1997 Aur 24 Object appeared faint in early February 1997. Identified as GSC 3752.986. Archive reveals only three other epochs when faint suggesting eclipsing binary with ephemeris JD Min. = 2450482.35 + 30.871 E. Subsequent statistical analysis by Chris Lloyd was unable to confirm periodicity. J0326+671 1997/016 10.8-11.6? 26 Feb 1997 Cam 12 Object bright in 1994 December and 1997 February. Identified as IRAS 03218+6657 = GSC 4074.1298. TAV J0550+543 1997/029 10.4-(13.9? 3 Apr 1997 TA-EC 1188 Aur 24 Object appeared bright in early March 1997. Identified as IRAS 05460+5421 = GSC 3754.0324. An analysis of archived film reveals the star bright on only 16 of 49 epochs satisfying the ephemeris JD Max. = 2447468.01 + 305.82 E but with a hint of a longer 6-year cycle of bright maxima. Details published in The Astronomer, vol.34, no.397, p.20 (May 1997). Independently discovered by Kesao Takamizawa and designated TmzV 243. Takamizawa records a photographic magnitude range 11.2-15.3 and Mira type variation with a period of 334 days. J0604+595 1997/074 10.8-11.8? 16 Oct 1997 Cam 24 Object appeared bright in September 1992 and October 1997. Identified as IRAS 05595+5932 = GSC 3763.2451. Independently discovered by Kesao Takamizawa and designated TmzV 239. Takamizawa records a photographic magnitude range 11.1-12.1 and SR: type variation. NSV 1665 1997/092 11.6-12.2? 25 Dec 1997 TA-EC 1261 J0437+517 Star appeared bright in late October 1997. Identified as Per 23 NSV 1665 discovered by Otto Morgenroth (1939). Also = IRAS 04336+5139 = Dearborn 28443 = GSC 3354.0049. Precise position reported by John Mackey on TA-EC 1269. References Bidelman, W.P., MacConnell, D.J. 1998, Inf. Bull.
