The spectrum shows a very blue, almost featureless continuum, upon which are superimposed narrow nebular emission lines suggesting it is a type II object at or before maximum." IAUC 4693 LA PALMA PROJECT Anders Linquist (MAG90959) e-mails a report from H.Bengtsson, Gothenburg, that a star situated at: RA 01h01m58s DEC +41 01.3'(1950) and located near RX And is a suspected variable although not plotted as such on SVSO or BAAVSS charts. The star, formerly CSV 5890, is now catalogued as NSV 389. A new TA preliminary chart is available showing the suspected variable and the mag 14 star (cf E226) and is available on e-mail request. The Editor will continue to monitor this box throughout the Christmas period. Guy M Hurst
