The previous such outburst occurred in 1988 when the star reached mv=10.9 on Jan 30 (cf IAUC 4278). Current observations follow: Sept 17.11UT, 12.5; 18.10, 11.7; 18.82, 11.7; 19.10, 11.7. YZ CNC Patrick Schmeer also notes YZ Cnc is at supermaximum: Sept 17.16UT, 11.2; 18.12, 11.1. TASV 0327+44 B.H.Granslo, Oslo, Norway, e-mails the following estimate for this newly discovered suspected variable (cf E-343): 1989 Sept 13.95UT, 12.5 (0.203-m SC x123). He mentions that on Falkauer Atlas (1961 Oct 16) it is not recorded and fainter than 13.5B. On Papadopoulos (1976 Oct 27) it is approx 10.9pv. POSSIBLE NOVA IN SGR (cf E344) The discoverer is William Albrecht, Pahala, HI who quotes a semi- precise position: RA 18h04m29s DEC -22 05.4' (1950) Albrecht finds nothing to mag 20 on UK Infrared Telescope plates.
