Elements: T=1989 Apr. 20.482ET Peri=226.759) Node= 97.509) 1950.0 q=2.22413 AU Incl= 6.471) The comet is fading IAUC 4872 SN 1989R IN UGC 2912 J.Mueller reports her discovery on Oct 4 of a SN in UGC 2912 located RA 03h56m12s DEC +42 29.0 (1950) during Palomar Sky Survey II. The object of mag 15 is 10"W, 10"N of the nucleus. IAUC 4871 1989 TE (=Q1989/73) Further photographs by Brian Manning on Oct 5 confirm the object now designated 1989 TE. This is the first asteroid to be discovered from England since 1909 October 5, 80 years to the night between the two discovery reports! Brian Marsden provides the following Vaisala orbit to enable more observations to be obtained and to secure the orbit.
