UV PERSEI
Stefan Korth, Monheim, Germany has reported an outburst of UV Per.
The star was seen on 1991 January 1.779UT at 13.9 whereas on
1990 Dec 13.951UT it was not seen and below 14.0.
The outburst was confirmed by Mike Gainsford, Burbage, Leicester on
1991 January 2.805UT at 13.0.
The last recorded outburst was a supermaximum on 1989 Oct 18 at
12.0 (TA Vol 6, No. 307, p153, 1989; IAUC 4880; AAVSO Circular
229, 1989).
Taichi Kato, Kyoto University, Japan has suggested on IBVS 3522,
recently issued, that the variable has a large proper motion. The
Editor passed a note to Brian Manning who has measured one of his
earlier exposures showing the star near maximum:
1978 March 12.91267UT RA 02h06m39.50s DEC +56 57'12.2"(1950)
(Measured 1990 Dec 28 based on 8 SAOC stars).
The latest maximum provides an opportunity for another measure to
investigate the proper motion.
