V1251 CYGNI (Q1994/100)
Gary Poyner, Birmingham, UK has telephoned to report the 100th
query dealt with by TA HQ this year. He relays that V1251 Cygni,
located at : RA 21h39.0m DEC +48 26' [1950] and on the recurrent
objects programme of the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol is in outburst.

Confirmation has been obtained by Bill Worraker and other observers
with available visual results as follows:

1994 Dec 21.806UT, [14.8 (G.Poyner, 0.40-m reflector)
         30.773, 13.0 (Poyner)
         30.865, 13.8 (Bill Worraker, Didcot, 0.26-m class 3)
30.875, 13.7 (Tonny Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium)
         30.879, 13.6 (Vanmunster)
         30.951, 13.2 (Eric Broens, Belgium)

All observers used the TA sequence (920124) except for Tonny
Vanmunster who used the AAVSO version.
The last recorded outburst, detected by Moriyama, was on 1991
Oct 25 and was announced in E576.

The Editor notes that the position for the variable as shown on
the original TA chart dated 1992 Jan 24 differs from that shown
for the candidate in the Downes and Shara Atlas. The TA object
appears to be further east.

We therefore URGENTLY need a photograph/CCD image to establish
the correct identification whilst the star is still bright.
Follow-up astrometry would also be useful.

An updated chart under the new FINDERS format will be sent in
the next E-Circular but will be reviewed again if the
position is found to be in error.
