EG CANCRI
Reports from Taichi Kato in Japan and Janet Mattei at AAVSO in
USA indicate this eruptive is yet again brightening:
1997 Jan 3.076UT, [14.6 v(Gary Poyner, Birmingham, UK 0.40-m refl.)
         4.476UT,  13.35V(Kato, Ouda, Japan)
         4.589UT,  13.0 v(N.Makiguchi, Japan, 0.25-m refl.)
         4.871UT,  13.52V(Kato)

SUPERNOVA 1996cb IN NGC 3510
This supernova, discovered on 1996 Dec 15.7UT at approximately
magnitude 16.5 is evidently brightening further. Bob Evans in
Australia noted it was near magnitude 14 on 1997 Jan 3.7UT.
Tonny Vanmunster in Belgium also recorded it on 1996 Dec 27.99UT
at 14.2 using an unfiltered CCD. This object clearly needs close
monitoring as it provides an excellent chance to obtain a light
curve in the early stages of the supernova's development.
