The object, of magnitude 18.2 was initially recorded on 10 images centred on 2006 Mar 5.907UT using a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and unfiltered CCD. The object is located at: RA 10h 37m 30s75s DEC +65 00' 58.1" (2000), 8.1"W and 7.5"S of the centre of the host galaxy. It is not present on Tom's images of 2005 Jan 4 and Apr 3 (limiting mag 19.5) nor on DSS II red (1997.028 limiting mag 21.0), blue plates (1996.936 limiting mag 20.5). In a further e-mail received later on March 6 Tom advised that a confirmation image (average of 10 images) had been obtained on Mar 6.947UT with end figures being derived of: RA 30.75s and DEC 58.1". The object was of similar magnitude to those of the discovery date. The discovery was announced in IAUC 8684 with the designation supernova 2006ar. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 99th supernova. Guy M Hurst
