The Astronomer

This is the home page of The Astronomer group, TA for short. We produce a magazine for the advanced amateur and our aim is to publish all observations of astronomical interest as soon as possible after they are made. The magazine has been published monthly since 1964 and subscribers are found all over the world. Back issues of magazines dating back to 1977 are available and early volumes of the magazine are gradually being made available on the NASA ADS page. We also provide a very comprehensive electronic circulars service to keep our members up to date. All of this is available for a modest subscription.

Submitting images: When submitting images to TA please send them as an e-mail attachment and please try to use the following filename format: object_yyyymmdd_hhmm_observer.jpg where object is the name of the object, yyyymmdd, hhmm is the date and time of the exposure (the hhmm field is optional) and observer is a unique observer code (say your initials). It is also a good idea to include details of the telescope, scale, orientation, camera, filter etc as annotation on the image.
